The Original Rat Pack
Emerson, Thoreau, Hawthorne, Longfellow
All born between 1800 and 1820 these four famous authors knew each other for at least brief periods in their lives. For the most part they were best friends. Thoreau was the youngest of the four, and was looked down upon by the others. All four wrote great pieces for most if not all of their lives. They were great intellectuals along with that ability to write pure greatness everytime they picked up the pen. They all made great speeches, can be quoted in everyday life whether its about philosophy, writing, or just life in general. They were great men and are very valuable to American literature and history.
